New Concord Vaccine Sites Help Monument Corridor Protect Against COVID-19
Thursday, April 29, 2021
A new public health clinic with daily drop-in hours opened today in Concord's Monument Boulevard corridor to help residents of a central Contra Costa neighborhood heavily impacted by the pandemic access the life-saving protection of COVID-19 vaccine.
The Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) clinic at 1034 Oak Grove Road can provide as many as 500 safe, effective vaccines daily for patients 16 or older who live or work in Contra Costa, Tuesday through Saturday, at no cost to patients.
"Our goal is to ensure that all eligible Contra Costa residents have access to COVID-19 vaccine, which is the best tool we have to protect ourselves and our families from the virus," said Contra Costa Supervisor Karen Mitchoff, who represents Concord. "We have made tremendous progress in recent weeks, and we are making sure that nobody in the community is left behind."
The new clinic hours are 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. No appointments are required from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. (4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays).
From May 3 to May 6, mobile vaccine clinics staffed by the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), in partnership with Contra Costa and Alameda counties, will also offer no-appointment vaccination opportunities in the area from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day:
- Meadow Homes Elementary School, 1371 Detroit Ave., Concord
- Ambrose Recreation Center, 3105 Willow Pass Road, Bay Point
While Contra Costa's vaccination rate is among the highest in the state, with about 70 percent of the county's 16-and-older population having received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, CCHS is working hard to ensure that communities with lower vaccination rates gain better access both to no-cost clinics and linguistically and culturally appropriate health information about vaccines.
County-operated vaccine clinics in Bay Point, Concord and Richmond now feature daily drop-in hours. Visit our Walk-In Vaccinations page for more information about CCHS vaccine clinics that do not require appointments.
Anyone 16 or older who lives or works in Contra Costa can get a safe, effective COVID-19 vaccine at no cost to them by scheduling an easy online appointment at cchealth.org/coronavirus or calling 1-833-829-2626.
